The Ella Baker School (PreK-8th Grade)

Manhattan Youth is thrilled to partner with The Ella Baker School, offering both Elementary and Middle School After-School programs.

WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED: The program is open every day (even half days!) from school dismissal until 5:50 PM. We start on Friday, September 7th for grades Pre-K through 5th grades. Middle School students will begin on Wednesday, September 12th, 2018. After-School will end on Friday, June 21st, 2019. Parents can customize their after-school schedules, from one day to five days per week, one class to two classes per day, in any configuration. Manhattan Youth also runs full-day camps based out of our Downtown Community Center during summer vacation and school holidays (separate registration required).

WELCOME: At the end of the school day, classroom teachers dismiss all students registered for our program directly to our staff, who greet students with a healthy snack and a smile. Students eat and socialize with friends, decompressing from the school day and gearing up for after-school.

SPORTS, ARTS AND ENRICHMENT CLASSES: After-School includes one Class and one Choice Time Activity per day. We provide a wide variety of sports, arts, and enrichment activities for every age group. The classes that you select when enrolling your child in the program are taught by certified teachers, teaching artists, activity specialists and coaches. These classes take place from 3:30-4:30 PM and 4:45-5:45 PM. Tuition is based on the total number of classes per week.

HOMEWORK AND CHOICE TIME: Before and after classes, students choose from a list of structured and free play activities, led by our group leaders from 4:45-5:45 PM. These activities are included in your tuition. Choice Time activities include: Study Hall, Gym Sports, Outdoor Play, Indoor Games, Arts & Crafts, and more. On selected days, you may choose to replace daily Choice Time with an additional dance class as an "add-on."

The after school program for middle school students is a free enrichment program that provides a balanced array of activities to match their needs and interests. From designing personal comic books to performing in plays to participating in one of our many league sports, our program allows students to explore their extracurricular interests by engaging in them hands-on. Through the creation of partnerships with entities across the country, we also aim to bring student work into the world, so they can expand their horizons and gain self-confidence.
