After-School Program Elementary School Director

We are seeking full-time program directors for our elementary after-school programs. Program directors oversee day-to-day program operations, supervise line staff, organize special events, and liaise among parents, students and school staff. The program director must be patient, compassionate, proactive, organized, creative, resourceful, and a good judge of character. The program director must be an educator, a manager, a counselor, a mediator, an administrator, an ambassador, a problem solver, a negotiator, a coach, and a nurse. He or she must be a credible authority at the program, skillfully managing relationships with program staff, students, parents, custodians and school.  He or she must be one of those special people who finds joy helping school students as well as working with parents

The director must have the ability to hire staff who relate well to the students, and design activities that are developmentally appropriate and suit the individual needs of the students.

Qualifications:

* Four-year college degree, preferably in a field related to education and/or child development
* Experience as a director or assistant director in a school, after-school program, or other youth service
* Exemplary oral and written verbal skills, and a comfortable, professional demeanor in person, on the phone, and over email
* Experienced in hiring and supervising staff, and submitting biweekly payrolls
* Excellent computer skills
* Experience producing schedules, managing budgets and submitting reporting on attendance and expenses accurately and on time

Full time @ $60,000 per year

Payroll and Benefits administrator

Payroll Tasks

* Process semi-monthly payroll for 700+ hourly and salary employees
* Preparing timecards with employee names/program - ensuring all employees receive timecards for specific period
* Collecting/organizing time cards by department
* Ensure proper function of on-site time clocks
* Receiving time cards back from directors and enter hours and wages into ADP Workforce Now
* Return payroll distribution to Directors & Executive Director
* Process payroll & reports to Executive Director
* Distribute paychecks and pay stubs
* Support and participate in all payroll-related auditing activities
* Produce ad-hoc statistical reports as requested by management
* Serve as the primary daily interface with the payroll service provider on payroll/taxation matters
* Oversee the safekeeping and maintenance of payroll-related documentation
* Child Support
* Garnishments
* Loan repayments
* Insurance deductions
* Assist in the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies and procedures
* Maintenance of Transit Pre-tax benefit
* HR Related Tasks (open enrollment mid-November) other times 

On Boarding
* Input all employee information into ADP Workforce Now
* Answer HR related inquiries from staff regarding withholdings, taxes, and benefits.
* Work with On Boarding Director
* Employee Relations
* Assist/advise in employee complaints & issues (possible )
* After inputting to ADP give files to assistant for keeping.
* Support and participate in Department of Health audits
* Manage time off requests
* Respond to employment verifications and unemployment claims
* Employment verification of former employees
* Process employee status changes
* Create and maintain all HR forms
* List HR Forms
* Communicate labor laws and any organizational information to all employees
* Process terminations
* In addition, other duties as directed by Executive Director

Knowledge/Skills Required
* Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university
* Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now payroll system.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* A high degree of personal and professional integrity, ethics and honesty.
* Sound judgment and high personal standards regarding confidentiality.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff and employees.

After-School Program Middle School Director

Program directors oversee day-to-day program operations, supervise line staff, organize special events, and liaise among parents, students and school staff. Qualifications:

* Four-year college degree, preferably in a field related to education and/or child development
* Five years professional experience as a director or assistant director in a school, after-school program, or other youth service
* Exemplary oral and written verbal skills, and a comfortable, professional demeanor in person, on the phone, and over email.

Commitment:

After School runs every day the DOE is in session, including half-days

Counselors must be available to work Monday - Friday 2:30pm to 6:00pm

Applicants must have successful previous experience in a summer camp and/or after-school program with great job references.

Applicants should have some college education and be in good academic standing.

Commitment:

Semesters run Sep-Jan and Feb-June. We prefer teachers that can commit to both sessions.

Classes run every day the DOE is in session, including half-days.

1st period 3:15-4:30 (most classes are 1st period)

2nd period 4:45-6:00 (limited classes operate 2nd period)

Lessons plans and curriculum based on organization's class description and goals

Culminating events at the end of both semesters, usually the last 2 weeks of program

Mid-semester progress reports to distribute to parents (group updates, not individual)

Qualifications:

Excellent academic and practical experience in your subject area; professional experience a plus

Two years minimum teaching experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong demonstrated commitment to serving children (K-8) in diverse communities and neighborhoods across NYC

After-School Teaching Apprentice

Manhattan Youth seeks energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Apprentices to join our 2015-16 After-School team.

Teaching Apprenticeships will provide students and aspiring Teaching Artists with hands-on experience working with students in elementary and/or middle school after-school programs. Apprentices will assist an experienced teacher in their class, lead children in recreational "choice time" activities, supervise transitions (arrival, snack, dismissal, etc.), and participate in professional development sessions.

The position is part-time, from 2:30pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday, from September through June. This is a paid, hourly position. Candidates must be punctual, reliable, personable, organized, and fun!

Various Aquatics Positions

We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic staff to join our Aquatics team! Candidates must be punctual, reliable, personable, and have a strong desire to work with children and families.

LIFEGUARDS and HEAD LIFEGUARDS

Must hold current CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certifications through the American Red Cross.

Schedules are flexible with shifts offered between the hours of 7am-9pm daily.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS and SWIM TEAM COACH

CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certifications are required (or willingness to obtain once hired).

WSI Certifications or equivalent experience teaching for a Learn-to-Swim program is required.

Experience teaching all ages and levels, group and private classes

Swim Coach applicants should submit a coaching resume.

AFTER-SCHOOL POOL COUNSELORS and SWIM INSTRUCTOR AIDES

CPR/AED Certification is required (or willingness to obtain once hired).

Must be available Monday-Friday 2:30-6:30pm; Additional hours may be available.

AQUATICS SUPERVISOR

Must have experience teaching children in a classroom, child-care, or aquatics environment.

Must be extremely customer service-oriented with strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and work in a busy, fast-paced environment is essential!

A pleasant demeanor is a must! Candidates should be able to effectively communicate with adults (both in person and by phone) to answer general program questions and resolve concerns.

Must have leadership experience, preferably in a position related to Aquatics or Recreation and be comfortable managing a team of experienced staff.

Bachelors Degree required (degree in a field related to Education or Recreation is a plus).

This position may be part or full-time for the right candidate and requires availability in the afternoons during the week, as well as some weekends.

Downtown Day Camp Counselors Wanted:

Manhattan Youth's Downtown Day Camp is looking for counselors 17 years and older to work in our special day camp with hundreds of children and over one hundred staff members. This is an amazing opportunity to join our Camp team that has been setting the standard in NYC since 1992.

Candidates must be available to attend an interview in person (date to be determined), and if hired, must also attend our three staff orientation sessions:

Wednesday, May 30th: 6:30-9:00pm,

Thursday, May 31stt: 6:30-9:00pm

Saturday, June 9th: 10:00am-6:00pm

Summer Camp Work Dates (you must be available for all of these dates):

Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm - beginning Wednesday, June 27th (yes, camp starts on a Wednesday :), through Friday, August 10th.

Qualifications:

Has a positive attitude and loves working with children (encouraging, motivating, and being a role model for the campers and other staff).

Is very open-minded and responds well to supervision from other camp leaders.

Has very positive group management skills, as opposed to just telling people what to do.

Knows how to positively motivate groups of children.

Can lead or assist in leading group activities.

Works very well in a fast-paced, busy environment.

Looks forward to going in our swimming pool and being outside on the ball fields every day.
