Fall Premium Registration Classes at the Downtown Community Center

Make a mess with cooking, science or art, explore animals and where they come from, and learn something new about music, language, tennis and more. Our premium registration classes give your little one the opportunity to learn in small groups with the same children each week, in lessons that build on one another. The Make a Mess Series:

Our classes in cooking, science or art let your child learn while making a mess, and leaving the clean up to us. NEW: our 11am classes for 2.5 -3.5 year olds now give the parent or caregiver the option of leaving the classroom during the lesson and relaxing in the lounge just outside the classroom, should your child be ready for that step. Register for Fall classes today

Animal Explorers:  This interactive and creative class explores different lands and the creatures who live there.

NEW! Chouettes Chansons: Learning French with Song and Story  Join child educator and native French speaker Yasmine for this engaging immersive class featuring  familiar songs, stories, colors, and friends, en francais!  You and your child will explore, speak and sing this beautiful language together.

NEW! MY Mozart for Munchkins  Those familiar with Mozart for Munchkins monthly concerts at Manhattan Youth will love this weekly class! Here, children and families can experience and enjoy the wonders of classical music, face to face with world class musicians and educators. Each unique and special class will feature a different instrument and professional musician to hear, explore, and discover. While the setting is informal, the music, artistry and education is first rate, setting the stage for a lifetime appreciation of Mozart, Beethoven, and more!

Songs for Seeds:  Songs for seeds is a rockin' music program that encourages children newborn to 5 years to sing, dance and play along with a live,  three-piece band.   Ages 6 months & up.  Tennis Tikes and Tennis Aces at the Center

MY Tennis returns with two sessions of Tennis Tikes and Tennis Aces, starting Sunday, October 20th.

Tennis Tikes:  For children 3 – 4 Years old. Classes are held at the Downtown Community Center

Tennis Aces:  For children 5 – 6 years old, and 7 – 8 years old. Tennis Aces are held at Spruce Street School. 

  • Session 1: Sundays; October 20 – December 15 ( No Class 12/1 )
  • Session 2: Sundays;  January 5 – March 8  (No Class 1/19 or 2/16) 

Registration for Tennis opens September 16 

 

Digital Media Evening Classes at the Center: For 2nd -5th graders who love computer science and coding, or who want to learn how. These classes are free for members, though registration is required. There is a discounted price for students enrolled in any Manhattan Youth Afterschool Program.

 

Coding in Minecraft:  Don't just play Minecraft, MAKE IT. Coding in Minecraft uses the most popular game in the world to teach students not only how to code, but how to think for themselves, and discover the ins and outs of game design—all while having fun with their friends. 

For 2nd – 5th grade students.  Tuesdays, 5:45 pm, October 22 – December 17  (No class 11/5)

 

Robotics and Coding- Making Things That Move: The next stage in coding is seeing what you make in 3D! Join our staff as they teach your 4th through 5th grader the connection between coding and robotics, and be proud of the result.

For 4th and 5th grade students.  Thursdays, 5:45 pm, October 24 – December 19 (No class 11/28)
